Powder inna day, louda inna night! The Reggae Snow Splash hits Minakami Febuary 16th 2008. A huge lineup of quality reaggae, dub and ska bands from Japan and around the world. The 2007 Minakami event saw over 500 people pack Alpine Lodge, Japan's hottest apres ski facility, with 2 nights of amazing musicians, live art shows and an irie vibe.Official website |

| March 21st Minakami Cross-country Ski Festival This cross country ski event is for cross-country enthusiasts and first timers alike. The event is held on the Spring Equinox Day. Second week in April Hiawatari Mountain monks perform a traditional barefoot firewalking ceremony on red hot coals as a rite of exorcism every year at the Sanju-in Temple. Early June River Venture Raft Race An amateur rafting race held annually over two days on the Tone River during Spring flows. Great to watch from the riverbanks along the Suwa Gorge section. Late June Hotaru (Firefly) Festival Guided walks around the firefly area of JomoKogen. Early August E-boat Competition Teams compete against each other in the specially made E-boats. (10 perons boats) Mid August Minakami Festival A wide variety of festivities and events including the yearly Minakami fireworks display. Late August Fujiwara Marathon and Festival During the day a marathon around the picturesque Lake Fujiwara and at night a festival and fireworks display. |
