Minshuku
Minshuku vary in size, shape and style but are best described as a Japanese-style Bed and Breakfast or Inn.
Usually run by a family, Minshuku generally have up to 10 rooms and represent a relatively cheaper accomodation option to the larger scale Ryokan hotel provide the visitor with a good opportunity to meet a local family and experience traditional Japanese lifestyle in a more intimate setting.
A night stay at a Minshuku usually includes breakfast and dinner (although recently this is becoming more optional), your host or hostess will present you with a meal consisting of traditional Japanese cuisine known as kaiseki, which features a variety of dishes prepared with seasonal and regional specialties.
As with Bed and Breakfasts, the owner of a Minshuku takes great pride in offering the best accomodation experience and will go out of their way to ensure that your stay with them is as comfortable as possible.
